CALL TO WORSHIP
Calling Song                       “Be Not Afraid”             Bob Duford, SJ

You shall cross the barren desert but you shall not die of thirst.
You shall wander far in safely though you do not know the way.
You shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand.
You shall see the face of God and live.

Be not afraid. I go before you always.
Come follow me and I will give you rest.

Blessed are your poor, for the kingdom shall be theirs.
Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh.
And if wicked tongues insult and hate you all because of me,
Blessed, blessed are you!

Responsive Reading from Psalm 4
Leader: Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
People: Let your light shine on us. Fill our hearts with joy when the harvest comes.
All: In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Unison Invocation
Almighty God, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil; for Thou art with me.
Your rod and your staff – they comfort me.
Thank you in Jesus’ name. Amen

when will be realize people need the Lord.

Prayers of the People

Message                    “You Acted in Ignorance”                              Acts 3:1-19

Commitment Chorus                       “Just As I Am”                         UMH #357

Just as I am, without one plea,
but that thy blood was shed for me,

and that thou bidst me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come. I come.

Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
because thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come. I come

Just as I am, thy love unknown
hath broken every barrier down;
now, to be thine, yea, thine alone,

O Lamb of God, I come. I come.

Unison Benediction
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.

May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.

People: God is my strength, he’s also my song, and how he’s my salvation.
Leader: Can you hear the shouts? Can you hear the songs of triumph in the camp of the saved?
People: “The hand of God has turned the tide!
The hand of God is raised in victory!
The hand of God has turned the tide!”
All: This is God’s work.  We can hardly believe it!
This is the day God has acted. Let’s celebrate and be glad.

Unison Invocation
Heavenly Father, here we are, gathered in the name of Jesus.
Give us a bold witness, a deep love, and a solid faith

who believe in the power of life over death.
Amen.

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies! Alleluia

We confess that at times we have not trusted you

and we give these gifts in light of that belief.
Through Jesus we pray. Amen.

*Commitment Hymn             “Because He Lives”

God sent his son, they called him Jesus,
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because he lives I can face tomorrow.
Because he lives all fear is gone;
Because I know he holds the future.
And life is worth the living just because he lives.

Unison Benediction
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.

May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders he has shown you.

May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
