*CALL TO WORSHIP
Calling Chorus “O Come, All Ye Faithful” UMH #234 (chorus only)
O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him,
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
For he alone is worthy. For he alone is worthy,
For he alone is worthy. Christ the Lord.
Responsive Reading Psalm 84:1 and 10-12
Leader: How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty.
People: A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of the Lord than live the “good life” in the homes of the wicked.
Leader: For the Lord God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will he withhold from those who do what is right.
All: O Lord Almighty, happy are those who trust in you.
Heavenly Father, gratitude comes hard to us. Boasting and blaming are easier, yet me trust that you know such things are products of our insecurities, fears, and ambitions. But now, in Your presence, in this place, with these other followers of Jesus, we are softened and find clarity and praise more compatible with what we truly believe. So on this day we humbly pause to praise you that when we gather in the name of Jesus Christ you are right here to disturb and renew us.
Through Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymn “Blessed Assurance” UMH #369 v. 1
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory devine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
Blessing of Backpacks: All students are encouraged to come forward.

Closing Song “The Trees of the Field” TFWS #2279
You shall go out with joy - and be led forth with peace;
the mountains and the hills will break forth before you;
there’ll be shouts of joy, and all the trees of the field will clap,
will clap their hands. And all the trees of the field will clap their hands,
the trees of the field will clap their hands,
the trees of the field will clap their hands - while you go out with joy.
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you
wherever he may send you.
May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders he has shown you.
May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
Thank you for Worshiping with us today!

Wednesday, September 1, at 4:30 in the coffee area; There will be a meeting of Sunday School parents and anyone who is interested in helping with Sunday School this year. It’s hard to tell what upcoming months will be like, with pandemic regulations, etc. but we owe it to our kids to get organized and plan as best we can! Ideally, we’d like to have a Nursery class, an Elementary grade class, an Explore the Bible class (5th-6th grade), and a Youth Excursion class.
Liturgists: Please see the clipboard in the bell room to sign up for September dates. If you are interested in serving as a Liturgist, new faces are always welcome.
NEXT WEEK: Fruitland UMC and Payette UMC will worship together at the Payette United Methodist Church, at 10:00 am. The worship service will be held inside with lunch following provided by PUMC on the lawn.
