Fruitland United Methodist Church
August 8, 2021 – 9:00 A.M. Prelude: Welcome and Announcements Interlude: Welcoming the Light of Christ and inviting the neighborhood to worship. *CALL TO WORSHIP Welcoming Chorus “Bless His Holy Name” TFWS #2015 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is with in me, bless his holy name. He has done great things, he has done great things, He has done great things, bless his holy name. Responsive Reading Leader: I will exalt the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. People: My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice! All: Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. Unison Invocation O Heavenly Father, We stammer our praise and thanksgiving for the extravagance of your gifts that often leave us tongue-tied and teary-eyed. We praise you for the surprises of grace that catch us off guard and fill our struggles with hope, our defeats with timeless lessons and with the fresh possibilities that well up from the old promises you always find ways to keep through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Hymn “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” UMH #298 vv. 1, 2 and 4 When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, save in the death of Christ, my God; all the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to his blood. Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were an offering far too small; love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all. Old Testament Reading - Psalm 130 Gospel Reading - John 6:35 and 41-51 God’s Word for God’s People. Thanks be to God! Congregational Prayer and Lord’s Prayer Offering Meditation and Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessing flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. Sermon “Results or Rules” Ephesians 4:25-5:2 Postlude (Please be seated) Please exit through the front doors, following the postlude, where we will continue the service on the front lawn. Closing Song “Spirit of the Living God” UMH #393 Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me. Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Unison Benediction May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you wherever he may send you. May he guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm. May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you. May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
