Interlude: “This is my Father’s World” arranged by Franklin Sheppard

*Call to Worship
Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

Calling Song: “Holy, Holy” TFWS #2039
Holy holy holy holy
Holy holy Lord God Almighty
And we lift our hearts before You
As a token of our love
Holy holy holy holy

Gracious Father gracious Father
We're so blessed to be Your children
Gracious Father
And we lift our heads before You
As a token of our love
Gracious Father gracious Father

Precious Jesus precious Jesus
We're so glad that You've redeemed us
Precious Jesus
And we lift our hands before You
As a token of our love
Precious Jesus precious Jesus

Holy Spirit Holy Spirit
Come and fill our hearts anew
Holy Spirit
And we lift our voice before You
As a token of our love
Holy Spirit Holy Spirit

Hallelujah hallelujah
Hallelujah hallelujah
And we lift our hearts before You
As a token of our love
Hallelujah hallelujah

Responsive Reading from Psalm 138
Leader: I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise.
People: I will bow down toward your hold temple and will praise your name for you have exalted your love and faithfulness above all things.
Leader: When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted.
People: May all the kings of the earth praise you, O Lord, when they hear the words of your mouth. May they sing of the ways of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord is great.
Leader: Though the Lord is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar.
All: Your love, O Lord, endures forever.

Unison Invocation
Lord, some of us have found wealth in this world, while others of us have not. As we stand here before you, we are all paupers, except for your grace and love extended through Jesus of Nazareth in whose name we pray. Amen.

Hymn: “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty” UMH #64

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

Old Testament Reading - Isaiah 6:1-8
Gospel Reading - John 2:1-12

Message: “Do What He Tells You” The Chosen – Season 1, Episode 5

Jesus had been down at Bethany which is east of Jerusalem. He then traveled back up to the province of Galilee (John 1:43). That’s when he attended a wedding in the village of Cana. Take a look at a map of first-century Israel (you might have one in the back of your Bible). Find the Sea of Galilee. Then find Nazareth. Look to the northwest and you’ll find Cana.

List some things you know about the wedding in Cana. Then list some things you don’t know.
Can you remember anything embarrassing happening at a wedding? Something embarrassing happen at the Cana wedding. They ran out of wine. We don’t know why that happened but it did.

Do a little research about the jars, the ones Jesus asked to be filled. What was important about the jars being made of stone?

Then ponder Mary’s words: “Do whatever he tells you.” How do those words apply to your life right now?

Commitment Song: “Trees of the Field” TFWS #2279
You shall go out with joy
And be led forth with peace
The mountains and the hills
Will break forth before you
There'll be shouts of joy
And all the trees of the field
Will clap, will clap their hands

And all the trees of the field
Will clap their hands
The trees of the field
Will clap their hands
The trees of the field
Will clap their hands
While you go out with joy

Unison Benediction
May the peace of the Lord Jesus go with you wherever he may send you.
May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you.
May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.

Postlude: “Amazing Grace”
traditional tune arranged by Fred Bock
