* Calling Song: "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” UMH #89 (Verses 1 and 2)
Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
hearts unfold like flowers before thee,
opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
drive the dark of doubt away.
Giver of immortal gladness,
fill us with the light of day!
All thy works with joy surround thee,
earth and heaven reflect thy rays,
stars and angels sing around thee,
center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
flowery meadow, flashing sea,
chanting bird and flowing fountain,
call us to rejoice in thee.
*Responsive Reading Psalm 85 UM Hymnal page 806
Leader: Lord, you showed favor to your land; You restored the fortunes of Jacob.
People: You forgave the iniquity of your people; you pardoned all their sin.
Leader: You withdrew all your wrath; You turned from your hot anger.
People: Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us.
Leader: Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
Will you not revive us again,
That your people may rejoice in you?
People: Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.
Lord of Hope and Peace, we have come this day asking for your mercy. Grant us your pardon. We have come this day seeking peace in our lives; grant us peace. Teach us how
to be compassionate disciples for you. For we ask this in Christ's name. AMEN.

Congregational Prayer and Lord’s Prayer
Hymn “Prayer Is the Soul’s Sincere Desire” UMH #492 (Verses 1-3, 5-6)
Prayer is the soul's sincere desire,
unuttered or expressed,
the motion of a hidden fire
that trembles in the breast.
Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
the falling of a tear,
the upward glancing of an eye,
when none but God is near.
Prayer is the simplest form of speech
that infant lips can try;
prayer the sublimest strains that reach
the Majesty on high.
Prayer is the Christians' vital breath,
the Christians' native air;
their watchword at the gates of death;
they enter heaven with prayer.
O Thou, by whom we come to God,
the Life, the Truth, the Way:
the path of prayer thyself hast trod;
Lord, teach us how to pray!
