Fruitland United Methodist Church March 31, 2024 Sunrise Service Opening Prayer – Pastor Hymn Morning Has Broken UMH# 145 Grace and peace to you from Jesus Christ our Lord. My brothers and sisters in Christ: On this most holy morning in which Jesus Christ passed over from death to life, we gather as the church to watch and pray. This is the Passover of Christ, in which we share in Christ’s victory over death. Hymn This Is The Day UMH# 657 God of life, through Jesus Christ you have bestowed upon the world the light of life. Sanctify this new fire, and grant that our hearts and minds may also be kindled with holy desire to shine forth with the brightness of Christ’s rising, that we may attain to the feast of everlasting light; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Scripture Mark 16: 1-7 Hymn Lift High The Cross UMH# 159 Prayer God of us all, We give you thanks for your love, your grace, and your power on this blessed Resurrection morning! We thank you for the brilliance of the colors on us and around us that remind us of new life! Today, blessed God, we gather to remember and celebrate: We remember Jesus, who healed the sick and raised the dead. We remember Jesus, Son of God, Song of God, who sang God's melody to us. We remember Jesus, who consented to suffer and die at our hand. Today, Almighty God, we celebrate the fact that death could not hold Jesus in the grave! We celebrate that not even death is able to separate us from the love of God! We celebrate the new life that we have in Christ! We celebrate the assurance that we have of eternal life! Today we celebrate and give thanks that in life, in death, in life after death we belong to God! Amen. ~~~~~ Song Lyrics Morning Has Broken Morning has broken like the first morning; blackbird has spoken like the first bird. Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning! Praise for them, springing fresh from the Word! Sweet the rain’s new fall sin lit from heaven, Like the first dew fall on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden, sprung in completeness where his feet pass. Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning born of the one light Eden saw play! Praise with elation, praise every morning, God’s recreation of the new day! This Is The Day This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made; let us rejoice, let us rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it. This is the day that the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made. Lift High The Cross Refrain: Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name. 1. Come, Christians, follow this triumphant sign. The hosts of God in unity combine. Refrain 2. Each newborn servant of the Crucified bears on the brow the seal of him who died. Refrain 3. O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree, as thou hast promised, draw the world to thee. Refrain 4. So shall our song of triumph ever be: Praise to the Crucified for victory! Thank you for worshiping with us today!
